Project Description
The Center for Health, Environment and Justice (CHEJ) will convene a national meeting to work with community leaders to develop effective strategies to clean up polluted soil and water and reduce toxic air emissions from facilities harming school children.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recently released for public comment a draft of School Siting Guidelines to assist a community in the site selection process of a new school. But these guidelines do not address the toxic threats existing schools are facing.
CHEJ’s meeting will be a strategic discussion on how we can get action on the local, state and federal level to assist your group in getting action on your local school contamination problem. We are bringing together leaders of community groups, labor unions, health experts, legal, and policy professionals to discuss existing contamination problems in communities and explore possible solutions.
